If you live in Mandurah and you have been trying to find a counsellor, you will know the shape of the problem already: a handful of practices, waitlists measured in months, and otherwise the drive up the freeway to Perth for a one-hour appointment that costs you most of a day.
Grounded Counselling Co. is based just across the estuary in Halls Head and works remotely only, so there is no consulting room to find and nowhere to park. We meet by secure video at a time you choose, and you join from wherever you can close a door for an hour — at home, in a parked car outside the school, in a quiet room at work.
I work with women 18 and over in Mandurah and the surrounding suburbs, individually and as couples. Anxiety and stress, the transition into motherhood, grief, strain in a relationship, separation, and the kind of change that arrives whether or not you were ready for it. Sessions run for 60 minutes, you do not need a referral, and you can book a time yourself without ringing anyone or waiting for a callback.
Mandurah has grown a great deal in a short time, and local services have not entirely kept pace. Counselling online is one of the ways around that.

Hi, I'm Tilly.
For fifteen years I worked as a barista, making coffees and watching people come together over them — to talk, to laugh, to cry, and sometimes just to sit with someone who made the day feel lighter. Grounded Counselling Co. came out of that, and out of my own experience of needing someone to talk to.
I work with women 18 and over, online, through the things that are hard to say out loud the first time. You do not need to arrive with it all worked out.

Questions about counselling in Mandurah
You are local — do you offer in-person counselling in Mandurah?
No. I am based in Halls Head, but sessions are held online by secure video rather than from an in-person counselling clinic. There is no room in Mandurah to come to, and no home visits. What being local does mean is that you will not have to explain the place to me.
I am in Mandurah — do I need to travel anywhere for my appointment?
Not at all. You join from wherever you are, as long as it is private and has a reasonable internet connection. Home is the obvious choice, but anywhere you will not be interrupted works.
Which parts of Mandurah do you work with?
All of it, and the surrounding areas — because sessions are online, the suburb you live in makes no difference to whether I can see you, or how soon.
Is online counselling as useful as sitting in a room with someone?
It is different, though it usually takes only a few minutes to stop noticing the screen. What matters far more is whether you feel comfortable with the person you are talking to, which is worth paying attention to in a first session.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. You can book directly, and you do not need a diagnosis or a mental health care plan to see a counsellor.
How much does a session cost?
Individual sessions are $120 and couples sessions $140, each 60 minutes, with a founding client rate of $100 for the first ten clients. Payment is taken when you book.
